Summertime!

Hello followers, old and new!

June seems to have snuck up on us and we’re not entirely sure where Spring went! We’d normally be prepping for our show season, but the planned AeroExpo was cancelled and we won’t now be hitting the road until early September. That does mean we’ve had some time to focus on commissioned pieces in the workshop and a couple of large jobs are nearing completion. A Covid outbreak set us back a few weeks, but we’re all in good health now.

We did manage to help out a couple of aviation charities, namely Aerobility and fly2help, by providing the set for the former’s Armchair Airshow and dressing up as Douglas Bear for the latter at their Top Gun Maverick screenings…

Our 747 work is still very much ongoing in the background with the last of our Virgin ‘offcuts’ listed on the Members’ Area page and the latest batch of former BA pieces ready, with a small number (i.e. 3!) fuselage sections listed on the website. The latest window pane clocks are ready to go too.

We are still taking orders for G-CIVD, CIVH, BYGE, BYGF & BYGG; G-BYGA and BYGD edge ever nearer to the axeman and we’re expecting to finally have them with us next month. We’ll update those of you with specific orders for those airframes as soon as we have firm news. Whilst the delays are frustrating, they do point to positives for the industry. The scrapping of these final Jumbos has been ‘leapfrogged’ by a number of younger machines - principally Airbus A319-320 and Boeing 737s, whose spares are now in increasing demand as the industry recovers post-pandemic.

We have also managed to add some colour to the range, with the last of our ‘upstairs’ BA 747 sections - none other than the passengers’ favourite seat 64K from G-CIVE - joining KLM, Cathay Pacific and easyJet Airbus pieces in their distinctive blue, jade and orange. Again, you’ll find these exclusively on the Members’ Area page for a few more days until they go on general release.
